EMC Testing for Immunity is very closely linked with Functional Safety assessments – the SAFE BEHAVIOUR of the equipment when subjected to external interference is of paramount importance and along with rigorous climatic and vibration testing (IEC 60068 series) forms a major part of any Functional safety assessment. Witness Testing for IEC 60068 series of Environmental Testing Standards is also within our NATA Scope.
Within the EU/APEC agreements (MLA/MRA) exist between NATA and the EU Co-operation for Accreditation and APLAC. These agreements include countries inside and outside the EU and in the Asia Pacific Region and guarantees wide acceptance of our NATA endorsed reports.
NATA is actually the oldest Accreditation Body in the world being formed in 1947 and has played an important role in the development of other global accreditations organizations. Within the APLAC (APEC) and EU MRA/MLA’s NATA’s acceptance is near global and within 2011 under a planned ILAC Inspection Body MRA acceptance of NATA endorsed Inspection Body Reports will become truly global. The diagram on the following page and associated website links provides more information on this matter.
The “Field Labelling / Field Evaluation” process is specific to North America and is an alternative, under the NEC (National Electric Code), to NRTL Listing for small production runs of equipment – such as Industrial and Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment. Under the APLAC / APEC MRA our NATA endorsed NFPA 79 Report is accepted by MRA signatories such as IAS (USA) and A2LA (USA) as being ….”equivalent to a report issued by one of their own accredited organisations”. Under the APLAC/APEC MRA it is therefore possible for Projects etc Pty., Ltd (SRCS) to assess/inspect such machinery anywhere in the world and, if acceptable, affix a “Field Label” showing compliance with the NEC – National Electric Code (under NFPA79 and associated standards for machinery).
